Colin Mackenzie (April 26, 1933 – May 30, 2025) grew up in Manhattan and Guilford and was a student at Trinity and St. George’s Schools. He attended Yale University, majoring in psychology and was a member of the Chi Psi Fraternity, and performed in a Dixieland Band, the Yale Dixielies. Colin was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1955, serving for two years in Korea. He then worked for TWA for 35 years. Colin and his wife, Mary, moved their family to Guilford in 1976. In retirement, Colin became the President of The Hyland House, carrying on the family legacy – as his grandmother (Mary Bishop Bullard) was an original “Dorothy”, who helped save the Hyland House from demolition in 1916. Colin was an exuberant appreciator of everyone and everything around him!graduated from the Brearley School in New York City, attended Connecticut College and graduated from the University of Denver. While raising her four children on the Upper West Side, Jane was active in NYC politics and was a founding member of the Riverside Democrats. Jane worked at the Brearley School from 1969-1984, retiring as Director of Admissions. Jane and her husband, Joe, moved to Guilford in 1993, where Jane became active in the Guilford Community. She was a valuable and energetic board member at the Hyland House for many years. She was also on the boards of other Guilford organizations, including the Guilford Free Library. She was a founding member of the Secret Gardens of Guilford Tour. Jane will be remembered for her humor, her intellect and her humanity.
